- Long-term spokeswoman of the Green party took over Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability on March 1, 2018
- The job encompasses global responsibility for these issues
Gumpoldskirchen, 2 March 2018 (OTS) – NOVOMATIC aims to be an international industry leader, including in the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainability, which is why Dr. Eva Glawischnig-Piesczek has joined the team. “Eva Glawischnig has a lot of experience, particularly in these segments,” said Harald Neumann, CEO of NOVOMATIC AG, who is excited by the new addition. “Of course, there have been controversies between Eva Glawischnig and our company in the past. In the end, Dr. Glawischnig was able to get to know NOVOMATIC better, and see that our goals are largely aligned,” said Neumann.
Now that NOVOMATIC is aiming for global market leadership within the next few years, it is important to meet challenges in the area of responsibility management. “We plan to set worldwide standards,” Glawischnig proclaims. The lawyer gained relevant experience not just during her political career, but also at Global 2000. “It goes without saying that corporate responsibility and sustainability were a core focus of my long-term work with the Greens. I’m now very excited to have the chance to promote these issues at one of the few Austrian global corporations,” said Glawischnig, excited by the new challenge. In Europe, in particular, regulatory provisions are ever more prominent, which means that corporate responsibility is growing in significance, as recently proven by the introduction of the Austrian Law to Improve Sustainability and Diversity Nachhaltigkeits- und Diversitätsverbesserungsgesetz (NaDiVeG) in January 2017. The law requires companies of public interest with more than 500 employees and EUR 40 million in sales to publish a yearly, non-financial management report. This non-financial management report must include, for example, information on environmental engagement, or social and employee-related activities.
In the past, NOVOMATIC has repeatedly proven that corporate responsibility and sustainability are more than just buzz words, they are very important to the company and the foundation for all corporate activities. NOVOMATIC is able to look back at multiple successful CR projects in 2017, such as the NOVO Health Day, which attracted more than 250 participants who took advantage of around 20 health offers, and NOVO Safety Day, in which more than 600 people took part in an evacuation drill as well as first aid and self-defense training. Not only that, the NOVO Team Volunteer Initiative was brought to life, allowing employees to support charitable projects.
